Watson es una especie multipropósito nativa del bosque tropical caducifolio, de gran interés para la reforestación y establecimiento de sistemas agroforestales. El objetivo fue evaluar el efecto de diferentes sustratos orgánicos en el desarrollo de las plántulas de Caesalpinia platyloba. Se evaluaron variables de altura, diámetro del tallo, biomasa fresca y seca del follaje, y raíces en charola de germinación; en vaso de polietileno (15 días después de la siembra) se evaluó la sobrevivencia al trasplante e índices de calidad de planta. Se encontró que la composta de residuos sólidos y la lombricomposta mejoran la calidad de las plántulas de Caesalpinia platyloba, al mejorar la relación diámetro del tallo y la altura, así como el índice de lignificación de la planta, y aumenta el índice de calidad de Dickson. La mezcla 50%-50% composta o lombricomposta-vermiculita se puede utilizar como sustrato para producir planta de Caesalpinia platyloba.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Caesalpinia platyloba S. Watson is a multipurpose species native to the tropical deciduous forest and of great interest for reforestation and establishment of agroforestry systems. The objective was to evaluate the effect of different organic substrates on the development of Caesalpinia platyloba seedlings. Were considered the variables height, stem diameter, fresh and dry biomass of foliage, and roots in germination tray; in polyethylene cups (15 days after the sowing), transplant survival and plant quality indices were considered. It was found that solid waste compost and vermicompost improve the quality of Caesalpinia platyloba seedlings by improving the stem diameter and height ratio, as well as the lignification index of the plant, thus increasing the Dickson quality index. The 50%-50% compost or vermicompost-vermiculite mixture can be used as a substrate to produce Caesalpinia platyloba plants.]]></p></abstract>
