<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-90282024000300104&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-90282024000300104&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-90282024000300104&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen El estudio de las condiciones ecogeográficas de especies de interés alimentario como la yuca (Manihot esculenta Crantz), tiene implicaciones sobre como esta se adapta a diversas condiciones edafoclimáticas, además genera conocimiento sobre el estado actual del manejo del cultivo en una región agroecológica. El objetivo fue analizar el estado actual, las condiciones ecogeográficas y la distribución potencial de la yuca en nueve municipios de la región &#8220;Las Montañas&#8221;, Veracruz, México. Se realizaron recorridos de campo para la colecta de accesiones de yuca, que se identificaron con base en descriptores morfológicos y agronómicos para diferenciar el germoplasma; asimismo, se registraron datos pasaporte. Con las georreferencias, se adquirió la información de siete variables edafológicas, 19 variables climáticas y altitud mediante la técnica de ecogeografía; también, se realizó un modelo de nicho ecológico con el algoritmo de máxima entropía para identificar las áreas potenciales del cultivo. La yuca se reportó en huertos de traspatio, solares, huertas de limón, cafetales, cañales, platanales, y zonas con manejo agrícola, pecuario y forestal; en tierras dedicadas a la agricultura de temporal anual y semipermanente, en espacios urbanos; creciendo en suelos acrisol húmico y órtico, andosol húmico, feozem háplico y vertisol crómico. Con un 0.998 del área bajo la curva del modelo de nicho, 27 municipios cuentan con las condiciones edáficas y climáticas para implementar el cultivo de la yuca, pero se requiere de financiamiento para realizar trabajo de campo, evaluar las características morfo-agronómicas de las accesiones ante diferentes ambientes, e implementar un programa de conservación de la diversidad genética.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The study of the ecogeographical conditions of food species such as cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) has implications for understanding how it adapts to various soil and climatic conditions. Additionally, it generates knowledge about the current state of crop management in an agroecological region. The objective was to analyze the current status, ecogeographical conditions, and potential distribution of cassava in nine municipalities in the &#8220;Las Montañas&#8221; region of Veracruz, México. Field surveys were conducted to collect cassava accessions, which were identified based on morphological and agronomic descriptors to differentiate the germplasm. Passport data were also recorded. Using georeferences, information on seven soil variables, 19 climatic variables, and altitude was obtained through ecogeographical techniques. Additionally, an ecological niche model using the maximum entropy algorithm was created to identify potential cultivation areas. Cassava was reported in backyard gardens, home gardens, lemon orchards, coffee plantations, sugarcane fields, banana groves, and areas with agricultural, livestock, and forestry management; in lands dedicated to annual and semi-permanent rainfed agriculture, and in urban spaces; growing in humic and orthic Acrisol, humic Andosol, Haplic Phaeozem, and Chromic Vertisol soils. With an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.998 for the niche model, 27 municipalities have the soil and climatic conditions suitable for implementing cassava cultivation. However, funding is needed to conduct fieldwork, evaluate the morpho-agronomic characteristics of the accessions in different environments, and implement a program to conserve genetic diversity.]]></p></abstract>
