La fenología es un indicador del funcionamiento de los ecosistemas. Se puede estudiar a partir de la evolución estacional del índice de área foliar (LAI: Leaf Area Index), en forma de series de tiempo. El objetivo del trabajo fue caracterizar la fenología de las diferentes coberturas de la Reserva de la Biósfera Mariposa Monarca (oyamel, pino, cultivos, arbustos), a partir de su serie GEOV1 (2000 - 2015), que proporciona un valor de LAI por cada km2 (pixel), cada 10 días. Para cada tipo de cobertura se obtuvo el promedio del LAI de todos los pixeles en cada fecha, lo que constituye su climatología y representa la línea base del comportamiento del ecosistema. Para cada pixel se calcularon las variables fenológicas anuales (inicio, &#64257;nal y duración de la estación de crecimiento, máximo y mínimo de LAI, entre otros) y para cada cobertura se analizaron estas variables en relación con el clima y el relieve. Los bosques de oyamel muestran baja estacionalidad, las zonas más bajas e iluminadas terminan después la estación de crecimiento y el LAI acumulado anual es menor. En el bosque de pino, las latifoliadas explican la variación espacial de las variables fenológicas; las super&#64257;cies más elevadas inician la estación de crecimiento antes, pero las super&#64257;cies más iluminadas presentan estaciones más largas. En los cultivos y arbustos, a mayor elevación, más se adelanta la estación de crecimiento. Esta metodología permite el monitoreo sistemático de coberturas naturales y su análisis comparativo, en el contexto del cambio climático.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Phenology 1 is an indicator of ecosystem functioning. It can be studied from the seasonal evolution of the Leaf Area Index (LAI), in the form of time series. The objective of the work was to characterize the phenology of the different covers of the Monarch Butter&#64258;y Biosphere Reserve, starting from its GEOV1 series (2000 - 2015), which provides a LAI value for each km2, every 10 days. For each type of cover, the average LAI of all pixels on each date is obtained, which constitutes its climatology and represents the baseline of the ecosystem&#8217;s behavior. For each pixel, the annual phenological variables are calculated (start, end and duration of the growing season, maximum and minimum LAI) and for each cover these variables are analyzed in relation to climate and relief. Sacred &#64257;r forests show low seasonality, the lowest and most illuminated áreas &#64257;nish after the growing season and the annual accumulated LAI is lower. In pine forest, broadleaved trees explain the spatial variation of phenological variables; the highest areas start the growing season earlier, but the most illuminated areas have longer seasons. In crops and shrubs, the higher the elevation, the earlier the growing season. This methodology allows the systematic monitoring of natural covers and their comparative analysis, in the context of climate change.]]></p></abstract>
