En México, se ha reportado la exposición a este contaminante en diferentes estados de la república, y se ha asociado con diversas afectaciones a la salud. Utilizando la base de datos científica PubMed, se introdujeron las palabras clave arsénico, agua y México, a fin de recopilar los estudios existentes sobre las concentraciones de arsénico en agua y los efectos en la salud en poblaciones mexicanas en diferentes estados de la República mexicana con problemas de hidroarsenicismo. Después del análisis se encontró asociación con enfermedades metabólicas y cardiopulmonares, así como indicios de daño renal y del ADN. Todo esto muestra la necesidad de contar con estrategias de remoción y, sobre todo, políticas públicas más estrictas y aplicables que puedan ayudar a mejorar la salud pública en nuestro país.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract The presence of Arsenic in water for human consumption has become a global public health issue. In Mexico, exposure to this contaminant has been reported in various states of republic and has been associated with several health problems. Using the PubMed scientific database, the keywords arsenic, water and Mexico were entered in order to compile existing studies on arsenic concentrations in water and the health effects on Mexican populations in different states of the Mexican Republic with hydroarsenicism issues. After analysis, associations with metabolic and cardiopulmonary diseases were found, as well as the presence of renal and DNA damage. All this highlights the need to have removal strategies and, above all, stricter and more enforceable public policies to help improve public health in our country.]]></p></abstract>
