<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2007-11242022000300584&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2007-11242022000300584&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2007-11242022000300584&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Poultry production due to consumer demand has increased annually, which leads to the use of additives such as antibiotics to favor rearing conditions, this increases the deficiency in the composition of production animals&#8217; intestinal microbiota and can generate microbiological and genetic changes; this microbiota can reach humans through food chain, generating a possible horizontal transfer of genes that encode resistance to antibiotics. The objective was to identify resistance profiles and the genes that encode it. Materials and methods: From 200 chickens, 35 strains of Escherichia coli with extended spectrum beta-lactamase resistance phenotype were isolated from healthy broilers, from production farms in Santander (Colombia). 83 % of the AmpC gene, 86 % of the blaCTXM gene, 54 % of the blaSHV gene and 57 % of the blaTEM gene were identified. Regarding the genes that code for resistance to quinolones, 94 % of the qnrB gene, 9 % of the qnrC gene and 0 % of the qnrA gene were identified. The coexistence of the genes that encode for resistance to antibiotics is a serious problem that requires vigilance, in view of this; control strategies must be generated to avoid the spread through the food chain, as well as strategies for the control of the use of antibiotics in the production.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen Debido a la demanda de los consumidores, la producción avícola se ha incrementado anualmente, lo que conlleva el uso de aditivos tales como los antibióticos para favorecer las condiciones de cría; esto aumenta la deficiencia en la composición de la microbiota intestinal de los animales de producción y puede generar cambios microbiológicos y genéticos. Dicha microbiota puede llegar a los humanos a través de la cadena alimentaria, generando una posible transferencia horizontal de genes que codifican la resistencia a los antibióticos. El objetivo fue identificar los perfiles de resistencia y los genes que la codifican. A partir de 200 pollos, se aislaron 35 cepas de Escherichia coli con fenotipo de resistencia a betalactamasas de espectro extendido, procedentes de pollos sanos de granjas de producción de Santander (Colombia). Se identificó en un 83 % el gen AmpC, en 86 % el gen blaCTXM, en 54 % el gen blaSHV, y en 57 % el gen blaTEM. En cuanto a los genes que codifican la resistencia a las quinolonas, se identificó el 94 % del gen qnrB, el 9 % del gen qnrC y el 0 % del gen qnrA . La coexistencia de los genes que codifican para la resistencia a los antibióticos es un grave problema que requiere vigilancia; ante esto, se deben generar estrategias de control para evitar la propagación a través de la cadena alimentaria, así como estrategias para el control del uso de antibióticos en la producción.]]></p></abstract>
