<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S1026-87742017000100012&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S1026-87742017000100012&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S1026-87742017000100012&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen: El yacimiento Cañadón Las Horquetas, ubicado en el centro-sur de la Provincia del Chubut, y correspondiente a la Formación Bajo Barreal (Cenomaniano temprano - Turoniano tardío), constituye el sitio con mayor abundancia y diversidad de vertebrados fósiles cretácicos en la Cuenca del Golfo San Jorge. Este trabajo proporciona nueva información sedimentológica de la unidad y fundamentalmente sobre los procesos de permineralización de algunos restos fósiles preservados en depósitos de desbordamiento, un tema que ha sido poco abordado en los estudios tafonómicos de dinosaurios en general, y nunca en estudios de restos provenientes de la Formación Bajo Barreal. En este trabajo, se estudiaron muestras de tres dinosaurios mediante análisis químicos, microscopio petrográfico de polarización, difracción de rayos X y microscopio electrónico de barrido. Entre los resultados obtenidos se indica que los restos fósiles han sufrido una historia diagenética similar, con el mismo patrón de reemplazo mineral. La similitud en la composición química de los fósiles y de la roca portadora de los mismos sugiere que el enriquecimiento con nuevos elementos fue debido al intercambio directo con los sedimentos en el que fueron enterrados. Esto permite, con cierta cautela, extender estas condiciones diagenéticas a todo el Miembro Inferior de la Formación Bajo Barreal. De esta manera, este trabajo contribuye al entendimiento de los cambios diagenéticos que afectaron los restos fósiles después de su enterramiento.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: The fossil deposit Cañadón Las Horquetas, placed in the centre-south of the Chubut Province, includes the Bajo Barreal Formation of early Cenomanian - late Turonian age. This site presents the greater abun-dance and diversity of fossil vertebrates in the San Jorge Gulf Basin. The diagenetic processes reported herein represent a little addressed subject in taphonomic studies involving dinosaurs. We present for the first time information on the permineralization processes that affected the dinosaur remains preserved in overflow deposits from the Bajo Barreal Formation, as well as new sedimentological data of the studied unit. Samples from three specimens were studied by chemical analysis, polarization petrographic microscope, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). These studies show that all the dinosaurs have had a similar diagenetic history, with the same pattern of mineral replacement. Besides, the similar chemical composition found in the fossils and in the bearing rocks suggest that the enrichment with new elements found in the studied dinosaur remains was due to the direct exchange with the sediments in which they were buried. The now reported diagenetic conditions can be preliminarily extended to the whole lower member of the Bajo Barreal Formation.]]></p></abstract>
