En este trabajo se llevó a cabo una revisión bibliográfica de investigaciones y avances, que pueden ser de gran interés a estudiantes que cursan química orgánica avanzada, alumnos que están haciendo investigación en sistemas cíclicos, así como profesores que su interés sea en esta área. Primeramente, hay que conocer qué son las reglas de Baldwin y su uso para la predicción de productos de reacciones químicas, su evolución y algunas correcciones de cómo han evolucionado, qué patrones han descubierto que no funcionan, o cuáles siguen funcionando, así como conceptos y metodologías nuevas para entender las reacciones de ciclación y la obtención de anillos de distintos tamaños y miembros, de esta forma poder predecir y mejorar condiciones de reacción. Se habla también sobre las características estereoelectrónicas y geométricas de las estructuras que se deben cumplir según las reglas de Baldwin, para predecir qué reacciones se pueden y cuáles no se pueden llevar a cabo, sobre aplicaciones y uso de las reglas de Baldwin para síntesis importantes, y nuevas reglas establecidas según el comportamiento de las moléculas con metales de transición.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract Baldwin&#8217;s rules are a before and after in science, especially in organic chemistry. In this work, a bibliographic review of research and advances that was carried out. This topic which may be interest to students that studying advanced organic chemistry and students who are doing research in cyclic systems, as well as professors who are interested in this area. Firstly, about what Baldwin&#8217;s rules are and what they used for, how they have evolved, what patterns have been discovered that do not work, or which ones continue to work, as well as new concepts and methodologies or a complement of these to have a successful ring closure in the best conditions. It also talks about the stereoelectronic and geometric characteristics of Baldwin structures, what is most favorable, about applications and use of Baldwin&#8217;s rules for important syntheses, and new rules established according to the behavior of molecules with transition metals.]]></p></abstract>
