<self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0187-71512022000100116&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0187-71512022000100116&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://www.scielo.org.mx/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0187-71512022000100116&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[Resumen:  Antecedentes y Objetivos: El género Xylaria presenta estromas periteciales, oscuros, con gran variabilidad morfológica, ascas cilíndricas con un poro apical amiloide y ascosporas elipsoides, con línea germinal presente o ausente color marrón oscuro. Posee una distribución mundial; se han descrito más de 250 especies, con mayor diversidad en las regiones tropicales. En México se conocen 109 taxones, de los cuales 17 se han registrado en localidades con presencia de bosque tropical caducifolio. El objetivo principal del presente estudio es describir las especies de Xylaria que se encuentran en este tipo de vegetación y ampliar su distribución geográfica conocida.  Métodos:  Se estudiaron especímenes provenientes de localidades con bosque tropical caducifolio de México y depositados en la colección de hongos del herbario ENCB. Se examinaron macro y micromorfológicamente de acuerdo con las técnicas convencionales de micología.  Resultados clave: Se documentan 20 especies del género Xylaria que han sido registradas en los bosques tropicales caducifolios de México. En este trabajo son descritas ocho de ellas por considerarse menos frecuentes. Xylaria titan se cita, de la Reserva de la Biosfera Chamela-Cuixmala, Jalisco, por primera vez para México. Xylaria alata, X. apiculata, X. bambooensis, X. claviceps, X. feejeensis, X. grammica, X. laevis, X. longiana, X. multiplex, X. oxyacanthae y X. scruposa son nuevos registros para algunos estados. Xylaria apiculata y Xylaria claviceps también se reportan por primera vez para este tipo de vegetación en el país.  Conclusiones: Xylaria es un género poco representado en el bosque tropical caducifolio de México. Se amplía la distribución geográfica previamente conocida de las especies de Xylaria en este tipo de vegetación. Sin embargo, en la región neotropical hacen falta estudios ecológicos, biogeográficos y moleculares, para un mayor entendimiento del taxón.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Backgrounds and Aims: The genus Xylaria presents dark perithecial stromas with great morphological variability, cylindrical asci with amyloid apical pore and dark brown ellipsoid ascospores, with or without germ line. It has a worldwide distribution, more than 250 species have been described, with largest diversity in tropical regions. In Mexico, 109 taxa are known, of which 17 have been registered in localities with tropical deciduous forest. The main objective of the present study is to describe the Xylaria species that are found in this type of vegetation and so recognize their distribution.  Methods:  Specimens from localities with tropical deciduous forest of Mexico and deposited in the fungal collection of the herbarium ENCB were studied. They were examined macro- and micromorphologically following conventional mycological techniques.  Key results: Twenty species of the genus Xylaria have been recorded in the deciduous tropical forests of Mexico. Eight of them are described in this work because they are considered less frequent. Xylaria titan is recorded for the first time, from the Chamela-Cuixmala Biosphere Reserve, Jalisco, for Mexico. Xylaria alata, X. apiculata, X. bambooensis, X. claviceps, X. feejeensis, X. grammica, X. laevis, X. longiana, X. multiplex, X. oxyacanthae and X. scruposa are new records for some states. Xylaria apiculata and X. claviceps also are reported for the first time for this type of vegetation in the country.  Conclusions: Xylaria is a little represented genus in the tropical deciduous forest of Mexico. The previously known geographical distribution of Xylaria species in tropical deciduous forest is extended. However, in the Neotropical region, ecological, biogeographical and molecular studies are needed for a better understanding of the taxon.]]></p></abstract>
