La modelación de la distribución vertical del COS ha sido analizada generalmente con el uso de enfoques empíricos de ajustes de modelos matemáticos. Este esquema de modelado es usado para caracterizar el COS a profundidad del perfil del suelo en diferentes usos del suelo, pero con un enfoque incremental de introducir condicionantes en el ajuste, por regresión no lineal. Las condiciones de frontera introducidas (para profundidad cero y en el infinito) permite parametrizar los modelos con sentido fisicoquímico y biológico. Los mejores modelos seleccionados en el proceso progresivo de ajuste fueron revisados para analizar la congruencia de sus parámetros, argumentándose que sus bases no son claras para caracterizar las dinámicas del COS. Como alternativa se introdujo una cinética de reacción de orden n variable en los ajustes experimentales, obteniéndose buenos resultados (R2 &gt; 0.99) y patrones claros en las relaciones entre el orden n y la tasa de reacción k  n del modelo alternativo, orientado al objetivo de sintetizar conocimiento a través del análisis de patrones y su modelado matemático.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: Soil organic carbon (SOC) at depth can be destabilized by various climatic or anthropogenic factors, so it is necessary to characterize it properly. The modeling of the vertical distribution of the SOC has generally been approximated using empirical approaches to mathematical model adjustments. This scheme is used to characterize the SOC at depth in different land uses and it is analyzed, but with an incremental approach of introducing constraints in the experimental adjustment, by nonlinear regression. The boundary conditions introduced (for zero and infinity depth) allow parameterizing models with physicochemical and biological sense. The best models selected in the progressive adjustment process were reviewed to analyze the congruence of their parameters, arguing that their bases are not clear to characterize the dynamics of the SOC. As an alternative, a reaction kinetics of variable order n was introduced in the experimental settings, obtaining good results (R2 &gt; 0.99) and clear patterns in the relationships between order n and the k n reaction rate of the alternative model.]]></p></abstract>
