Es esencial el estudio de las modificaciones que pueden presentarse durante su desarrollo, así como en la calidad del producto cosechado. El objetivo del trabajo fue analizar el efecto del estrés hídrico sobre el desarrollo, crecimiento, producción y calidad agronómica del cultivo de centeno y el grano cosechado. Para la siembra se utilizó un diseño experimental de una sola vía, donde los tratamientos constaron de tres diferentes regímenes de humedad en el suelo asignados completamente al azar. Las variables evaluadas al momento de la cosecha fueron la altura de la planta y el número de espigas por metro lineal. Posterior a la cosecha se utilizó un diseño completamente al azar donde se evaluó el tamaño de la espiga y cuantos granos contenía, así como el tamaño y color de grano, peso de 1000 granos, peso hectolítrico, rendimiento y contenido de cenizas y proteínas. Se realizó un análisis de varianza y pruebas de comparación de medias por Tukey (P &lt; 0.05) para el contenido de cenizas y proteína y Duncan (P &lt; 0.05 y P &#8804; 0.0001) para el resto de las determinaciones. Los resultados mostraron que la menor lámina de riego no afectó negativamente al cultivo, presentando un apropiado desarrollo agronómico, destacando un incremento en la cantidad y tamaño de espigas, aumento en la cantidad de granos por espiga, así como un alto rendimiento y contenido de proteínas de grano. Estos valores fueron más altos que los reportados en investigaciones previas. Todo esto confirma que a pesar de que el centeno es considerado un cereal invernal, logró aclimatarse a las condiciones del suelo, disminución de agua y altas temperaturas de la zona de la costa de Hermosillo, Sonora.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: Cereals are a fundamental part of the world diet; therefore, their adaptation in different environments due to climate change should be achieved. Studying the modifications that may occur during plant development is essential, as well as in the quality of the harvested product. Thus the objective of this research is to analyze the effect of water stress on development, growth, production, and agronomic quality of rye crop and harvested grain. For sowing, a completely randomized one-way experimental design was used, where the treatments consisted of three different soil moisture regimes. The variables evaluated at the time of harvest were plant height and number of spikes per linear meter. After harvest, the variables evaluated were spike size and the number of grains it contained, as well as size and color of the grain, weight of 1000 grains, test weight, yield, ash and protein content. An analysis of variance and Tukey&#8217;s comparison of means test (P &lt; 0.05) were performed for ash and protein content, and Duncan (P &lt; 0.05 and P &#8804; 0.0001) for the rest of the determinations. The results showed that less irrigation did not negatively affect the crop with an appropriate agronomic development, highlighting an increase in the number and size of spikes, an increase in the number of grains per spike, as well as a high yield and protein content of the grain. These values were higher than those reported in previous research, which confirms that even though rye is considered a winter cereal, it managed to acclimate to soil conditions, decreased water, and high temperatures in the coastal area of Hermosillo, Sonora, México.]]></p></abstract>
