El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar el efecto de la densidad de planta y dosis de fertilización sobre la productividad de forraje de tres híbridos comerciales de maíz. El experimento se estableció en el Campo Experimental Cotaxtla perteneciente al Instituto Nacional de Investigaciones Forestales, Agrícolas y Pecuarias (INIFAP), bajo un diseño en bloques completamente al azar con arreglo en parcelas subdivididas con tres repeticiones. Se estudiaron tres factores: dosis de fertilización (207&#8209;69&#8209;60 y 253&#8209;69-60), híbridos de maíz (H-564C, H-567 y HE-3B) y densidades de planta (62 500, 83 000 y 100 000 plantas ha-1). Durante el periodo de estudio, la precipitación mensual acumulada fue de 489.30 mm y la temperatura promedio de 27.01 °C; la máxima temperatura ocurrió en el mes de agosto (27.83 °C) y la mínima en el mes de septiembre (26.30 °C). La prueba de Duncan (P &#8804; 0.05), demostró que la dosis de fertilización integrada por la fórmula 253&#8209;69&#8209;60, incrementó el rendimiento de forraje verde, un 15.06% más con relación a la fórmula 207&#8209;69&#8209;60. Los híbridos H-564C y HE-3B expresaron los mejores rendimientos de forraje verde con 53 105 y 51 937 kg ha&#8209;1, respectivamente. La mayor producción de forraje verde se obtuvo con el híbrido HE-3B y la dosis 253-69-60. El aumento de la densidad de planta (62 500 a 100 000 plantas ha-1) incrementó el rendimiento de forraje verde cuando se aplicó altas unidades de N. El incremento de la densidad de planta no afectó las características agronómicas de los híbridos evaluados. Los híbridos H-564C y HE&#8209;3B, expresaron mayor rendimiento de forraje verde. Este último material es un candidato para ser liberado y comercializado con propósitos forrajeros en el área tropical del estado de Veracruz.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: Fertilization and plant density are some essential technological components in modern agriculture. The aims of this research was to define the effect of plant density and fertilization rates on fodder productivity of three commercial corn hybrids. In the spring-summer 2017 season, an experiment was established in the Cotaxtla Experimental Field of the National Institute for Forestry, Agriculture and Livestock Research (INIFAP in Spanish), under a completely randomized block design arranged in subdivided plots with three replicates. Three factors were studied, fertilization rates (207-69-60 and 253-69-60), corn hybrids (H-564C, H-567 and HE-3B) and plant densities (62 500, 83 000 and 100 000 plants ha-1). During the study period, the accumulated monthly precipitation was 489.30 mm and average temperature was 27.01 °C; the maximum temperature occurred in August (27.83 °C) and the minimum in September (26.30 °C) 2017. Duncan&#8217;s test (P &#8804; 0.05) showed that the fertilization rates integrated by the formula 253&#8209;69&#8209;60 increased green fodder yield, 15.06% more than in the formula 207-69-60. Hybrids H-564C and HE-3B expressed the best green fodder yields with 53 105 and 51 937 kg ha-1, respectively. Increasing plant density (62 500 to 100 000 plants ha&#8209;1) and green fodder yield when high units of N were applied (253-69-60). Likewise, the increase in plant density did not affect the agronomic characteristics of the evaluated hybrids. The commercial H-564C hybrid expressed the highest green and dry fodder yields, followed by the experimental HE-3B hybrid. This last material is a candidate to be released and commercialized for fodder purposes in the tropical area of the state of Veracruz.]]></p></abstract>
