Para evaluar el efecto sobre las propiedades químicas de un suelo de tipo vertisol, se analizaron los nutrientes bajo cuatro sistemas de uso de suelo: matorral espinoso tamaulipeco, pastizal, cultivo agrícola y una plantación de eucaliptos, ubicados en el noreste del estado de Nuevo León, México. Se colectaron cuatro muestras de suelo compuestas por sitio a dos profundidades (0-5 cm y 5-30 cm) analizándose pH, conductividad eléctrica (CE), capacidad de intercambio catiónico (CIC), macronutrientes (K, Ca, Mg y Na) y micronutrientes (Cu, Mn, Fe y Zn). De acuerdo a los resultados obtenidos, se encontraron diferencias significativas (P &#8804; 0.05) entre los sistemas de uso para pH, Mg (cmol(+) kg-1), Fe (mg L-1) y Cu (mg L&#8209;1) en las dos profundidades. La CE (dS m-1), Zn (mg L-1) y CIC (cmol(+) kg-1), presentaron diferencias en la profundidad 0-5 cm, mientras que Ca (cmol(+) kg&#8209;1), Na (cmol(+) kg-1) y Mn (mg L-1) para la profundidad 5-30 cm. Los nutrientes P (mg kg&#8209;1) y K (cmol(+) kg&#8209;1) no presentaron diferencias entre los sistemas en las dos profundidades. Se realizó una correlación de Spearman entre las variables, siendo el pH la variable que presentó una relación con la mayoría de los nutrientes, debido a la competencia entre cationes y el efecto de la disponibilidad de los micronutrientes. En los sistemas agrícola y plantación de eucalipto se presentó una disminución en K, Fe, Mn, Zn y CIC, mientras que en el pastizal los contenidos de P y K aumentaron a diferencia del matorral que representa la vegetación natural.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary: Chemical properties are indicative of soil quality, and nutrient reserves can be modified by anthropogenic activities. To evaluate the effect on the chemical properties of vertisol-type soil, nutrients were analyzed under four land use systems in northeastern Nuevo Leon, Mexico: Tamaulipan thornscrub, grassland, agricultural crop and eucalyptus plantation. Four compound soil samples were collected per site at two depths (0-5 cm and 5-30 cm), and the variables pH, electrical conductivity (EC), cation exchange capacity (CEC), macronutrients (K, Ca, Mg and Na) and micronutrients (Cu, Mn, Fe and Zn) were determined. According to the results obtained, differences (P &#8804; 0.05) were found between system use for pH, Mg (cmol(+) kg&#8209;1), Fe (mg L&#8209;1) and Cu (mg L-1) in the two depths. CE (dS m-1), Zn (mg L-1) and CEC (cmol(+) kg&#8209;1) showed differences in depth 0-5 cm, while Ca, (cmol(+) kg&#8209;1), Na (cmol(+) kg-1) and Mn (mg L&#8209;1) for depth 5-30 cm. Nutrients P (mg kg&#8209;1) and K (cmol(+) kg-1) were not different between systems at the two depths. A Spearman correlation analysis was made between variables; pH was the variable that was associated with most of the nutrients due to competition among cations and the effect of micronutrient availability. In the agricultural systems and eucalyptus plantation, there was decrease in K, Fe, Mn, Zn and CEC, whereas in the grasslands contents of P and K increased in contrast with thornscrub that represents the natural vegetation.]]></p></abstract>
