Una alternativa para mantener un nivel rentable de producción, con un menor uso de agroquímicos, y enfocando la agricultura hacia un manejo sustentable, es la aplicación de microorganismos fijadores de nitrógeno. De esta forma, se busca implementar alternativas que permitan reducir los costos (económicos y ambientales) sin afectar la productividad de los cultivos. Este trabajo se enfocó a generar una tecnología sustentable a base de cepas nativas de rhizobia, potencialmente útiles como biofertilizantes, aplicable a cultivos agrícolas en localidades del estado de Chihuahua. En 11 muestras de suelos con actividad agrícola se evaluó la densidad de poblaciones bacterianas, a niveles de 1 × 102 a 6.6 × 103 unidades formadoras de colonias (UFC g-1), mostrándose el efecto negativo de la aplicación de fertilizante químico a nivel de las poblaciones microbianas del suelo. Algunas cepas presentaron una baja tasa de supervivencia in vitro, se obtuvo una colección de 24 cepas provenientes de suelo y 7 de nódulos radiculares. Las 31 cepas se identificaron mediante el análisis de secuencias del gen 16S rDNA, encontrando principalmente Rhizobium y Ensifer. Se evaluó el crecimiento de las cepas en medio de cultivo bajo diferentes condiciones fisiológicas (pH de 4.0, 5.5, 6.8 y 8.0; temperatura de 32 y 42 ºC; NaCl de 0.01, 0.51 y 0.85 moles L-1). Se aislaron cepas con capacidad de crecimiento en condiciones que se consideran adversas y que sugieren una mayor flexibilidad fisiológica y capacidad de adaptación a las condiciones ambientales (pH, temperatura, osmolaridad, fuente de C y energía). La diferencia en efectividad de las cepas inoculadas en leguminosas hace evidente la necesidad de diseñar un inoculante multicepa como parte de una alternativa encaminada hacia la agricultura sustentable.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract: Modern agricultural production requires high amounts of agrochemical derivatives of petroleum. Their production and use contaminate the atmosphere, generating damage to health of living beings. An alternative to the exclusive use of agrochemicals, while maintaining a profitable agricultural production and aiming for sustainable management, is the application of nitrogen fixing microorganisms. In this way, this alternative reduces costs (economic and environmental) without affecting crop productivity. Our objective was to generate a technology with potentially useful native rhizobia strains as biofertilizers, applied to agricultural crops in localities of the state of Chihuahua. In 11 agricultural soil samples, bacterial populations were evaluated, finding levels from 1 × 102 a 6.6 × 103 training units of colonies (UFC g-1); showing the negative effect of chemical fertilizers on microbial soil populations. Some strains showed very low survival capacity in vitro. We obtained a collection of 24 strains isolated from soil and 7 strains isolated from root nodules. The 31 isolates were identified by 16S rDNA sequencing, mainly Rhizobium and Ensifer were found. Growth in culture medium was evaluated under different physiological conditions (pH 4.0, 5.5, 6.8 and 8.0; temperature of 32 and 42 ºC, and NaCl concentration of 0.01, 0.51 and 0.85 mol L-1). Strains with capacity to grow under adverse conditions were obtained. This capacity suggests physiological flexibility and adaptation to environmental conditions. The difference in effectiveness observed for inoculated strains on leguminous crops visibly shows the necessity of multistrain inoculants as an alternative for sustainable agriculture.]]></p></abstract>
