Caso clínico:  prematuro de 28.3 semanas, pequeño para la edad gestacional con diagnóstico de EMOP a los 62 días de vida, el cual fue detectado de manera incidental por la presencia de múltiples fracturas de huesos largos con signos de deshilachamiento, imágenes en cáliz de copa metafisarias, y cambios de desmineralización ósea. Posterior al tratamiento con vitamina D mejoraron los valores de fósforo y fosfatasa alcalina, así como los radiológicos.  Conclusiones:  en todo RN prematuro extremo es necesario llevar a cabo tamizaje para la detección oportuna de EMOP, a fin de evitar las posibles complicaciones óseas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract:  Introduction:  multiple complications occur in extremely premature newborns, including metabolic bone disease (MBD).  Clinical case:  premature neonate of 28.3 weeks, small for gestational age, diagnosed with MBD at 62 days of extrauterine life. MBD was incidentally detected by the presence of multiple fractures of long bones with signs of fraying, images in the calyx of the metaphyseal cup, and changes in bone demineralization. After treatment with vitamin D, both phosphorus and alkaline phosphatase values, as well as radiological values, improved.  Conclusions:  in all extremely premature newborns, it is necessary to carry out screening for the timely detection of MBD, to avoid possible bone complications.]]></p></abstract>
