Abstract

This work presents a model-based fault diagnosis system for double pipe heat exchanger. The fault diagnosis system allows estimating and isolating the fault in one inlet and two outlet temperature sensors of the heat exchanger. The main goal presented in this work; is the possibility of isolating two simultaneous failures in the temperature sensors. The fault diagnosis system was designed based on Super-Twisting Sliding -Mode Observer. Experimental results have shown the effectiveness of the proposed diagnosis system.

Key words: sliding-mode observer, fault diagnosis, heat exchanger.
