Toes hair thread tourniquet syndrome. Case report*

Introduction. Hair thread tourniquet syndrome is an uncommon entity which has been described as accident and in some cases has been suggested as possible forms of child abuse. It has been described since 1966 and has been reported from 4 days to 19 months for finger, for male genital from 4 months to 7 years old and for female genital from 7–13 years old.

Case report. Two months old girl in which the mother's hair characteristics was a determinant factor for the accident. The hair thread tourniquet was liberated 10 hours after the time it could start the problem, the infant moved a lot the foot and as much as it was inside the sleeping dress, the damage was not visible until the mother took it off.

Conclusion. The edema and vein congestion was resolved satisfactory without out sequel. The lineal wounds healed satisfactory. It is difficult to think in child abuse in the present case.
