ABSTRACT

New combinations are proposed here for 26 species and one variety belonging to 13 genera of Mexican Orchidaceae.These combinations are required to comply with current taxonomic concepts and ongoing revisionary treatment of the orchids of mexico. The collector and number of the type specimen for the recently described Acianthera sotoana are corrected.

RESUMEN

Se proponen aquí nuevas combinaciones para 26 especies y una variedad pertenecientes a 13 géneros de Orchidaceae Mexicanas. Estas combinaciones son necesarias para concordar con conceptos taxonómicos actuales y estudios de revisión en curso de las orquídeas de México. Se corrige el colector y el número del espécimen tipo para la recientemente descrita Acianthera sotoana.

In the book "Orchids of Mexico" (Hágsater et al., 2005) and the digital catalogue with the same name (Soto Arenas et al., 2007a), several unpublished names were used, which derived from systematic studies in course. Some of those names refer to new species but others represent new combinations. Although some of them were subsequently published (Salazar & de Santiago, 2007; Solano & Salazar, 2007; Soto Arenas et al., 2007b; Hágsater & Soto Arenas, 2008; Hágsater & Sánchez–Saldaña, 2008; Solano, 2010; Soto Arenas & Dressler, 2010), others have not yet been validated. Here we propose new combinations for 26 species and one variety belonging to the genera Acianthera Scheidw., Aulosepalum Garay, Camaridium Lindl., Christensonella Szlach. et al., Cuitlauzina Lex., Funkiella Schltr., Maxillariella M. A. Blanco & Carnevali, Platanthera Rich., Prosthechea Knowles & Westc., Schiedeella Schltr., Stelis Sw., Tamayorkis Szlach., and Trichocentrum Poepp. & Endl. The generic classifications follow, among others, Salazar et al. (2003), Salazar & Ballesteros–Barrera (2010), and Salazar et al. (unpublished data) for Spiranthinae, Chase et al. (2008) for Oncidiinae, Pridgeon et al. (2005) for Pleurothallidinae, and Blanco et al. (2007) for Maxillariinae.
