Preface

The Radiation Physics Division of the Mexican Physical Society organized the VI International Symposium on Radiation Physics, which was held on the Campus of the Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas, in Zacatecas, México, from March 7th to March 10th, 2010.

The symposium was attended by more than 60 participants, consisting of professors, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students from 7 different countries. A total of 4 plenary, 19 oral and 29 poster presentations, addressed a wide variety of subjects related to the study or use of radiation in physics. Talks were given on fundamental physics, instrument development, applications in the natural environment, material characterization, industry and scientific policy.

We would like to recognize the exceptional performance of the local organizing Committee and the Rector of the Universidad de Zacatecas and his staff, whose generous support and efforts on behalf of the symposium made its success possible.

The Symposium was also made possible thanks to the financial support of our sponsors: Instituto de Física, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IF-UNAM), Instituto de Ciencias Nucleares, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (ICN-UNAM), Sociedad Mexicana de Física (SMF), División de Física de Radiaciones de la Sociedad Mexicana de Física (DFR-SMF), Centro Latinoamericano de Física (CLAF), Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT), Consejo Zacatecano de Ciencia y Tecnología (COZCYT) and Universidad Autónoma de Zacatecas (UAZ).

Finally, the organizing committee would like to thank all the participants whose contribution made this Symposium possible. We look forward to their support of future international symposia on radiation physics in México.
