The associative theme is recognized as a rural development tool, as well as a socio-business strategy to improve human capacities, articulate markets and create economies of scale for small and medium rural producers, leading to the competitiveness of the agricultural sector. The objective of the article is raised in terms of analyzing the origin and evolution of the concept of associativity and the processes that are presented in it. For this, a methodology with a qualitative approach of a descriptive nature was used, through a bibliographic review structured with a documentary design, which seeks the interpretation of the ideas presented by other authors. The contribution of this research is of an academic nature, as it studies the state of the art of the subject in question.
