MONTES CASTILLO, Zayyad Jesús Francisco  y  RODRIGUEZ LOPEZ, María del Carmen. Reverse logistics in the management of packaging and packaging waste in the context of COVID-19. Vértice univ. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.91, pp.3-13.  Epub 17-Ene-2022. ISSN 2683-2623.  https://doi.org/10.36792/rvu.vi91.35.

The reverse logistics challenges that firm currently face, derived from the health crisis due to COVID-19, are several. However, a practice and characteristic of these confinement times has been the increase in the use of plastic packaging, due to health care protocols and care. This situation imposes a new challenge, since packaging and packaging will not be able to be recycled at the same speed with which they are used and disposed of, arising the need to modify certain practices for the care of the environment.

Thus, reverse logistics provides the knowledge for an efficient and sustainable process of planning and controlling the flow of inputs and products, from the point of consumption to the origin (i.e., production), in order to recover its value. Therefore, the objective in this work is to carry out a review of the reverse logistics literature to establish its importance as a strategic tool in the development of a productive activity focused on more sustainable processes, specifically, emphasis will be placed on waste management of packaging and packaging. The article discusses conceptualizations of reverse packaging logistics, to reflect on the adoption of best practices in the management of these wastes.
