The study Historical and bibliographical references for a study with a gender approach in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba, and Guanajuato, Mexico, is part of the research results of a community intervention project, co-sponsored by the ADELANTE Window of the European Union, with the objective to contribute to the empowerment of rural women affected by climate change and the Covid - 19 pandemic. The article presents the methodology followed to conduct the study and a historical journey through the main bibliographic sources that constitute the conceptual and methodological frameworks for studies with a gender approach. The article is divided into three sections: Introduction, Development, and Conclusions. The Introduction discusses the problem to be studied, state of the art, objectives, and scientific method. The Development shows the evolution of the topic and the main results obtained, and the Conclusion presents the final ideas and qualitative leaps in knowledge.
