Cancer is a health problem in global and national levels because of high rates of mortality. In Mexican women, breast cancer is the main type of cancer with 25 % of cases. However, disinformation about prevention and detection of breast cancer represents a crucial challenge for Mexican society. Therefore, the aim of this work is the review of the most prevalent breast cancer types in Mexican women as well as investigate the main risk factors associate with incidence of this disease. Diverse studies show that carcinoma ductal invasive and molecular subtype luminal A (ER+, PR+, HER2-) are the more common breast cancer in Mexico; and the highest incidence is located in the north of country. This could be related to transference of lifestyles as changes in diet, decrease in breastfeeding culture and lack of physical exercise. Nowadays, molecular tools can offer a more precise diagnosis to improve breast cancer treatment and prognosis.
