Background:
Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) and bone marrow metastases are infrequent in gastric cancer (GC) and confers a dismal prognosis.
Objective:
We present a case of metastatic GC associated with DIC. We conducted a systematic review of the literature on the chemotherapy efficacy in this scenery.
Reported case:
A 37-year-old woman with metastatic poorly differentiated gastric adenocarcinoma, and DIC, who was treated with 5-Fluorouracilo, ácido folínico, oxaliplatino (FOLFOX)..
Conclusions:
The presence of DIC in asoociation with metastatic GC is uncommon and imposes a decrease in survival as well as a therapeutic challenge. Chemotherapy shows efficacy in the control of GC and DIC compared to the best supportive care.
