RAMIREZ SANCHEZ, Martha Areli. Collective Self-management and Educational Autonomy as Cues to Rethinking School: High School Number 55 and Revolution University Educating for Life. Rev. latinoam. estud. educ. [online]. 2022, vol.52, n.3, pp.99-132. Epub 05-Set-2022. ISSN 2448-878X. https://doi.org/10.48102/rlee.2022.52.3.525.
Through an ethnographic record, we systematize and share a pedagogical proposal - the case of High School 55 and the Revolution University, located in the municipality of Chicoloapan, Mexico. They focus on educational management and autonomy as a central element to resist police repression, poverty, and structural violence. The ideologies of this initiative offer strategies based on community organization which allows for reformulating education as an institution, as well as the labor of teaching, and the very meaning of school. The proposal incorporates several pedagogical strategies- Methodology 55, “Holonema”, curricular autonomy, RUA, and SINAPSyS- to transform social life. These initiatives are supported by collective volunteer solidarity work. The teachers implement innovative strategies to encourage critical thinking by their students and lead them to seek their passion in life.
