A prospective, quasiexperimental, controlled, double- blind study ws made in pediatric patients who underwent elective surgery of tonsillectomy, in Bayamo "Carlos Manuel de Céspedes" University Hospital surgically. Two groups of 70 patients each were made. Group I or experimental, consisted of 70 patients receiving preanesthetic medication with oral midazolam associated with paracetamol syrup. Midazolam was used intramuscularly in group two or control group according to the scale of Richmond-Rass was analized. The answer to the separation of the child from their parents. The hemodynamic changes, the complications and the effectiveness of the medication with midazolam were rated.
Results.
Group I patients, decreased anxiety at the time of the separation from their parents with a good acceptance of the facial mask at the time of the inhaled anesthetic induction, It didn't produce any hemodynamic changes, but there was a low number of complications.
