The current situation regarding forced internal displacement (FID) in Mexico is directly linked to the violence of de facto powers, organized crime, paramilitary groups and self-defense groups. Based on the fact that the displacement in Mexico occurs, but is not registered, the collection of the information required a mixed methodology, and the collating of different sources of information so as to permit the identification of the ‘localities of origin’ of the displaced population.
