Resumen

VAZQUEZ APODACA, Gloria Guadalupe. Construction process of the ethics of graphic design: ethical perspectives and times that define the evolution of its applied ethics. Zincografía [online]. 2021, vol.5, n.9, pp.58-80.  Epub 03-Nov-2021. ISSN 2448-8437.  https://doi.org/10.32870/zcr.v0i9.95.

The article shows research results, as well as the methodology implemented to explore the ethics of graphic design. The objective was to find theoretical and deontological foundations for his applied ethics. A documentary investigation was carried out that included bibliography, codes of ethics and manifestos published between 1964 and 2020. Through this exploration, the process of construction of ethics of the discipline is defined; As a result, different ethical perspectives were found that the designers established to contribute to the ethos of their profession. Simultaneously, throughout this historical exploration, five stages were identified that show the development of the ethics of graphic design, which led to the beginning of a sixth stage in which the means for self-regulation exist. It is perceptible that there is a need to build theoretical bases on the subject. The first limitation to achieve this is the existence of diffuse and dispersed information that must be rescued and collected. The second limitation is that even the contributions already collected need to be critically analyzed in depth. However, the profession is in the process of establishing theoretical and methodological foundations of its applied ethics, establishing guidelines for reflection on the practice of the 21st century by rethinking the responsibilities of the designer under new approaches and ways of thinking, which favors the discipline and to the guild.
