RAMIREZ CALVA, Verenice Cipatli. Power and inheritance: the mayorazgo Jaso. Tula, XVI-XVIII. Let. hist. [online]. 2017, n.16, pp.37-68. ISSN 2448-8372.
The study focuses on a branch of the Jaso family, originating from Jassu, Navarra, which since the 16th century settled in the town of Tula (today Hidalgo). This family, such like the Counts of Moctezuma, the Tultengo, the Villa del Villar del Aguila and the Count of Regla, monopolized the most fertile land in the valley of Tula, and successfully combined their positions as officers of the Crown with their livestock and agriculture business. The small fortune they amassed was the basis for the foundation of a modest mayorazgo that illustrates the spirit of the regional elite to perpetuate the heritage and the family name.
