BARROSO MARTINEZ, Ascensión; SANGUINO GALVAN, Ramón y BANEGIL PALACIOS, Tomas M.. Knowledge-based focus in family businesses. Investig. adm. [online]. 2012, vol.41, n.109, pp.62-69. ISSN 2448-7678.
While some researches on knowledge management have focused on small and medium enterprises, a gap exists on family business research. Knowledge management practices are a significant source of competitive advantage, which enable an organization to be innovative. Previous studies show that one of the causes the failure of family firms is the lack of willingness of family members to create and transfer knowledge from generation to another. Therefore, in this work we focus on the study of knowledge-based strategy in family firms. In conclusion, knowledge management is considered a key strategic asset that can be positively associated with higher levels of performance.
