Resumen

LOPEZ MARTINEZ, Jorge  y  MOLINA VARGAS, Alejandro. The labor situation of women in the agricultural sector in Mexico, 2008-2016. Anál. econ. [online]. 2018, vol.33, n.83, pp.97-123.  Epub 09-Sep-2019. ISSN 2448-6655.  https://doi.org/10.24275/uam/azc/dcsh/ae/2018v33n83/lopez.

The labor situation of women in the agricultural sector in Mexico, in the period 2008-2016, has presented important changes in relation to their income, level of education, type of position at work, duration of the working day, size of the productive unit in which they participate and the social benefits they receive. The objective of the work is to show and analyze the trends and magnitudes of these changes according to the INEGI database. An econometric model is used to test whether the level of education of women in the sector has a positive impact on their income. The results show a slight increase in productivity that has not been reflected in the salary. Further, the higher level of education that women present has not contributed to equal access to the higher income segment; on the contrary, it has caused downward pressure on wages, in such a way that in order to maintain and improve their income has required a greater number of hours worked.
