Resumen

HERNANDEZ VILCHIS, Nofret Berenice. The Palestinian Journalists: Between Professionalism and Nationalism. Estud. Asia Áfr. [online]. 2017, vol.52, n.3, pp.637-666. ISSN 2448-654X.  https://doi.org/10.24201/eaa.v0i0.2223.

Palestinian journalists continue to be regarded by their foreign colleagues as unprofessional because of their active participation in the national struggle. They are judged as too politicized to be able to produce professional and impartial journalistic texts. These correspondents do not take into account the ways that the Palestinian journalistic tradition is part of the Arab journalistic tradition. This tradition considers political militancy as part of the journalistic learning. The article affirms that foreign journalists are typically just passing through the Palestinian Territories, and that those living in the region reside on the Israeli side of the wall or in cities in other neighboring countries and do not witness Palestinian daily life.

Palabras llave : journalistic tradition; Palestinian journalists; professionalism; nationalism; identity.
