The incorporation of women into paid work is a broad, complex phenomenon. Its characteristics vary according to the context, level and scale of analysis. In this text, I briefly review the notion of the feminization of labor markets, on the basis of which I present a methodological proposal that combines strategic ethnography and the biographical approach to study women’s participation in masculinized occupations, specifically blue collar jobs in the construction sector in contemporary Mexico City.
