Abstract

ROMEU ALDAYA, Vivian. Sociability and Sensitivity in Simmel. Reflections from the Phenomenology of Communication. Estud. sociol [online]. 2019, vol.37, n.110, pp.369-396. ISSN 2448-6442.  https://doi.org/10.24201/es.2019v37n110.1693.

This article presents a complement of the Simmelian proposal on the forms of sociability from a communicative and phenomenological perspective. We do this by exploring the heuristic potential of neurobiological theories about the functioning of the mind and the construction of subjectivity, which in turn make possible to propose an explanation of the origin and functioning of sociability, according to Simmel’s description. The final aim is to propose a theoretical and conceptual interpretation of the sensitive dimension in social relationships where sociability is configured as a basic, and even elementary, relationship, not deeply studied yet by the sociology of emotions.

Keywords : social relationships; sensitivity; sociology; Simmel; neurobiology; phenomenologhy.
