This paper describes the tango’s revitalization in Buenos Aires City during the 90s and the cultural expressions created by young people going together with the crisis of 2001. Tango, crisis and youth shape a process that begins in that decade, blows up in 2001 and spreads in different forms thereafter. The social, political and economic conditions during the 90s must be considered to understand the meaning and sense of the cultural practices organized around tango by young people, a social group crossed by particular epochal coordinates in its subjective constitution who will overturn in tango their generational experience, articulating a reinvented tradition.
