ARGUELLES SANTIAGO, Jazmín Nallely. Education and Linguistic Diversity at the Instituto Superior Intercultural Ayuuk. An. antropol. [online]. 2021, vol.55, n.2, pp.53-62. Epub 16-Mayo-2022. ISSN 2448-6221. https://doi.org/10.22201/iia.24486221e.2021.77271.
This qualitative research analyzes and reflects on the politico-educative proposal promoted and developed by the Ayuuk Intercultural Higher Education Institute (ISIA), departing from the ideas that give meaning to the construction a self-determined educational model implemented in the Mixe region. In addition, it seeks to explore the linguistic diversity present in the ISIA since the preservation and revitalization of original/indigenous languages is a current imperative. The findings in the present case study lead us to highlight the approach to self-determined education for a dignified life within the community setting and regarding the processes of attention to native languages, which influence the positioning of differentiated citizenships in contexts of diversity. In this paper we start from a fundamental premise: the pluricultural and plurilingual composition of Mexico requires facing challenges in defense of the cultural and linguistic richness that concerns us all as humanity. Therefore, the recognition of the linguistic rights of indigenous peoples, the demand for an education based on the strengthening of identity and an appreciation for diversity, constitute the elements of a challenge that deserves to be made visible in order to find concrete alternative solutions.
