An epidemiological analysis of the disease was conducted in 11 municipalities in the state of Nayarit. Dog blood samples were taken in four populations of each of the eleven municipalities studied. A cluster sampling was used in the selected populations. Samples were taken only from dogs over one year old. The samples were identified with the data of each dog. Results obtained in the eleven municipalities studied have been diverse in a very wide range of prevalence from 2.5 to 33.33%. A rate of 4 males for 1 female was found in the samples, 91% of dogs were undefined mixed race, the rest were from diverse breeds such as German Shepherd, Doberman, Rottweiler, Samoyed, Great Danes, etc. D. immitis prevalence is higher in the coastal municipalities which have more favorable conditions for the development of intermediary mosquito. Dirofilariasis is an enzootic problem in the state of Nayarit due to the prevailing environment conditions.
