Resumen

DIAZ MENDIBURO, Aaraón et al. The challenges of migrant labor insertion in Mexico: an approach from integration through civil society organizations. Inter disciplina [online]. 2023, vol.11, n.29, pp.79-104.  Epub 26-Jun-2023. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2023.29.84481.

The migration phenomenon in Mexico represents a considerable challenge both for authorities and for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), resulting in a limited capacity to meet migrants’ demands regarding one of the most important factors for integration: labor insertion. Despite the existence of an advanced legal framework, specific programs and public policies as well as the support of international bodies and the organized society, the possibility of a migrant of getting a formal job is scarce, due to the existence, not only of administrative and legal obstacles, but also prejudice and discrimination. The fieldwork carried out with different CSOs oriented to migrants and the migrants’ testimonies corroborate that the establishment of favorable conditions for the integration of the migrant population in Mexico is still a pending matter.
