Resumen

CUESTA, Mabel. Bodies that know how to say I. Inter disciplina [online]. 2022, vol.10, n.27, pp.121-143.  Epub 03-Oct-2022. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2022.27.42147.

Lesbian women have globally suffered long exclusions within the feminist and LGBTIQ movements; in the first heterosexual bourgeois women have dominated and controlled the narrative and in the second one, that same task has been done by gay men. In the Cuban context even though the very well acclaimed socialist revolution of 1959 shifted many social issues positively, these exclusions have also found space and have subjected dissident identities to processes of silence and persecution. In this piece I am interested in highlighting the productive sediments of trauma that lesbians have suffered and also the possibilities for the future that are presented to us today through the self-representation tool that video clips are. With my writing I propose a hybrid approached which will be constantly interrupted both by testimonies of two Cuban lesbians from different generations (their stories as a sample) and by the analysis, via close readings, of said clips. All in all, I suggest that accessing digital platforms designed for sociocultural interaction and representation could become a sign of change for our future lesbian fates on the island.
