ARNES, Laura A.. Lesbian scenes. Dissident views and affective communities around Victoria Ocampo. Inter disciplina [online]. 2022, vol.10, n.27, pp.79-100. Epub 03-Oct-2022. ISSN 2448-5705. https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2022.27.82144.
From the rereading of certain scenes present in Sur magazine, in Victoria Ocampo’s Autobiography and in her correspondence, this article proposes that Ocampo, violating the patriarchal mandate to be an object, established, through her gaze, an alternative affective regime that involved a differential way of knowledge. Raising the nuance of a dissident affectivity in Ocampo’s gaze and reflecting on the way in which the affects that circulated in her international network of feminist and lesbian friendships appear in a varied number of texts, poses not only a possible focus of disruption in the representation system but also accounts for the ways in which this differential perception shaped forms of visibility that reframed the interweaving of practices, ways of being and ways of feeling. It also implies reading the varied ways in which, at the intersection between private and public, between psychic and social, the sexual and textual bodies are inseparable. Lesbian scenes thus appear, interrupting not only the normative paths of our imaginary but also of our hegemonic critical practices.
