AVILA ROMERO, León Enrique et al. Agroecology as the alternative: movement, science and practice for food justice and sovereignty. Inter disciplina [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.19, pp.195-218. Epub 25-Ene-2021. ISSN 2448-5705. https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2019.18.70293.
This research explores the relationship between theory and practice in agroecological initiatives in the Latin America. Throughout the years, since it was first mentioned in the academic world as the application of ecology in agriculture, agroecology has become a way of life and a political tool for peasant and urban farmer communities around Latin America. This has led to a working definition that explains agroecology as a science, a practice and a social movement. The objective of this is to understand how closely related practice and theory are in three agroecological initiatives. The purpose is to understand how agroecological theory and practice influence each other, in order to find ways in which agroecology can serve as a basis for a more effective strategy to achieve food justice and sovereignty.
