Abstract

CANALES LIZAOLA, Laura  and  LIZARRAGA SALAS, Frambel. The Trump effect: Mexican migration in the media agenda of the press in Mexico and the United States: La Jornada, El Universal and La Opinión. Inter disciplina [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.18, pp.127-147.  Epub Dec 11, 2020. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2019.18.68977.

This article analyzes the informative treatment of the migration process between Mexico and the United States made in the national newspapers El Universal and La Jornada, and in the American newspaper La Opinión. The study was developed from the agenda setting theory, which deals with the transfer of the relevance of the topics included in the media agenda to the public agenda. To this end, a content analysis of the notes that address the issue in the front pages of the three newspapers during the period from April 22 to May 6, 2017 was conducted. The content analysis provides an overview of the trends thematic, as well as the actors who are given greater relevance.
