Abstract
VARGAS CARRILLO, María Soledad. Journalism of opinion and gender discourse: comparative analysis of the columns of El País Semanal (El País) and Magazine (La Vanguardia). Inter disciplina [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.17, pp.31-55. Epub Dec 11, 2020. ISSN 2448-5705. https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2019.17.67532.
In this article, the main results of a quantitative and qualitative (mixed) study on the writing of Spanish columnists (from Sunday magazines) are presented. Based on the following assumptions: first, we think that between columnists women and men there could be different themes, related to the reference to which each alludes because of the genre of the author. Secondly, because of this, belonging to one genre or another, stylistic differences would exist between the columnists, women and men, with different objectives and ends for them and them.
Thus, the objective of this research was to characterize the journalistic discourse of women and men columnists, in order to find unique features of each group and also, see if there are differences or similarities, both at the thematic level (issues addressed by some and by others) as in relation to the stylistic discourse (rhetorical figures that they and they use, and the purpose of their use). This could be achieved after an interdisciplinary study between journalism and literature with a gender perspective. The projections of this work are, on the one hand, the methodological tool that will allow analyzing journalistic texts of different formats (opinion and interpretative), and, on the other hand, thinking about journalistic opinion narratives with a gender perspective.
