Abstract

GAUSSENS, Pierre. When talking about violence is violent: The problems of the dominant discourse on the organized crime. Inter disciplina [online]. 2018, vol.6, n.15, pp.107-124.  Epub Feb 19, 2021. ISSN 2448-5705.  https://doi.org/10.22201/ceiich.24485705e.2018.15.63833.

The dominant discourse on the security crisis in Mexico is based on an official representation that compares criminal groups with mafias, as some “parallel powers” whose interests “infiltrate” the State. Against this vision, it´s necessary to deconstruct the categories that make the “cártel” a phantom enemy, the “plaza” an imaginary territory and the “narco” a myth, in order to be able to understand critically a criminal phenomenon whose political nexus is functional to the social order in the State and the accumulation of capital in the market.

Keywords : State; criminal group; drug trafficking; political-criminal nexus.
