Nanotechnology and nanoscience (N&N) represent cutting-edge technical activities that some select groups of research and technological development around the world are doing to achieve emerging technology applications. In this article, a brief summary of the activities concerning N&N are being developed by the Department of Materials Engineering at the Higher Technological Institute of Irapuato (ITESI) is presented. Among the activities described in this document are a brief description of the Institute and the Department of Engineering Materials, guidelines for research, technological development and innovation related to nanomaterials; collaboration with other universities and research centers, as well as the participation of the Institute in scientific networks; infrastructure available for the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials; the activities that researchers have performed with companies; teaching activities and training of human resources; the main achievements of the institution regarding N&N; the prospects for activities concerning N&N should be performed by researchers around the world to improve the performance of nanomaterials and their products, and finally the web pages related to the Institute and its activities on N&N are analyzed. The activity that Technological Institute makes regarding nanoscience and nanotechnology can be attractive to students and researchers from other universities and research centers to develop multidisciplinary projects where multiple scientific and technological capabilities can be fully exploited by all participants of scientific and technological projects, either from the area of basic or applied research.
