This paper identifies the competences for an engineer specialized on nanotechnology. It discusses the content that a curricular plan should have in order to successfully achieve the development of such competences. It also delineates a proposal for a plan of study for the career on nanotechnology engineering, which makes emphasis on the scientific and integral training of students.
