This article describes the main actions taken by Spain in order to achive the implantation of nanoscience and nanotechnology during the last decade in diverse fronts: research, transfer, transmission, training, etc. In particular this actions are framed within the context of the strategic actions that the Ministry of Science and Innovation had carried out since 2004. The text describes some successful actions such as the launch of focalized research projects; the stimulus to industrial consortiums: the training of a vast network of researchers; or the construction of research centers. Some problems are also identified, mainly as a result of the existence of some degree of lack of coordination among the actors involved.
