CHAVARRIA SUAREZ, Mario Cruz  y  PEREZ PEREZ, Gabriel. Post-truth: An Epistemic Construction for Domination. Rev. mex. opinión pública [online]. 2022, n.33, pp.13-30.  Epub 31-Oct-2022. ISSN 2448-4911.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fcpys.24484911e.2022.33.82274.

This article presents a theoretical contribution to the analytical-conceptual delimitation of post-truth as an instrument of domination typical of contemporary societies. Its methodological strategy consists of a qualitative study that links theoretical analysis with documentary research based on the interpretive hermeneutic critique of some of the main theorists who address the construction of knowledge, language, meanings and ideologies as domimation mechanisms. Some of the most important characteristics of today’s societies are described through historical and sociological perspectives. If people’s beliefs, emotions and desires determine public opinion, deliberately distorting reality and manipulating social attitudes requires the imposition of one’s will on a social context; the obedience of people, social groups or sectors of the population, and belief in the people empowered to govern and generate and control the issues comprising the public agenda and their information. Post-truth is thus constituted as a domination mechanism that shapes and manipulates public opinion and social attitudes.
