MORALES MENA, Agustín. Is It Possible to Reduce Political Distrust in Mexico? The Mexican Case (1996-2004). Rev. mex. opinión pública [online]. 2015, n.18, pp.53-68. ISSN 2448-4911. https://doi.org/10.1016/s1870-7300(15)71360-8.
This paper makes a theoretical course on the importance of political trust in democracy, the historical context of political trust in Mexico and finally a diagnosis of the evolution of distrust in political institutions between 1996 - 2004. The data show that even in a short period of time, it was possible to generate trust in the institutions, when there was a congruence among the rules of democracy and election results. However, would not last long, thanks to the poor performance of several governments at all levels, getting back high levels of political distrust after 2000.
