PELAEZ GONZALEZ, Carolina y FLORES PEREZ, Edith. Sensory Registers. An Analysis from the Body, Emotions and Senses of the Organization of Feminist Collectives in Mexico. Rev. interdiscip. estud. género Col. Méx. [online]. 2022, vol.8, e937. Epub 13-Feb-2023. ISSN 2395-9185. https://doi.org/10.24201/reg.v8i1.937.
This article is a study of the bodily, sensory, and emotional practices and experiences that produce and maintain forms of organization and political demands of feminist organizations in Mexico. Based on a qualitative methodology, our technique consists of in-depth group interviews and non-participant observation of the organizations' publications on their social networks. From the analysis of the narratives, three analytical registers of sensibilities are identified: 1. Emotional, bodily, and sensorial investments and resources by their members, 2. Emotions and sensoriality as materialization of the political demand, and 3. The body, emotions, and senses as the driving force of collective action, implicating frameworks of interpretation and practices of collective action. These sensory registers are configured from the intersection of the categories of gender and class linked to the particular contexts of sexual harassment and violence in which feminist collectives operate.
