CARDENAS PAZOS, Mateo  e  GIRALDO AGUIRRE, Sebastián. “I feel so female to cry for a ‘güevon’”. Spite and Gender Representations in Colombian Popular Music. Rev. interdiscip. estud. género Col. Méx. [online]. 2019, vol.5, e401.  Epub 15-Fev-2020. ISSN 2395-9185.  https://doi.org/10.24201/reg.v5i0.401.

The article analyzes Colombian “popular music” sung by women, asking how female gender roles are (re) presented in this universe and how these female interpreters narrate their relationships with men and with other women. The article reviews the lyrics of some popular songs of the genre through the method of critical discourse analysis to reveal the “political ecology of gender” that is articulated around these sounds. The text, thus, discusses the discourses of gender present in these musics and their articulation with the engendered construction of emotions -like love and spite- in contemporary Colombia.

Palavras-chave : gender; critical discourse analysis; spite music; cultural studies.
